Details - Drugs & Young People
Course Overview:
This piece of training is designed for people
who work with young drug users and offers
the opportunity for participants to explore
a range of issues that relate to this vulnerable
client group.
Course Aims - Participants will:
Gain knowledge regarding the prevalence of
substance use amongst young people
Improve knowledge about the effects and risks
of drug and alcohol use
Develop assessment skills for intervening
with young people
Be able to identify appropriate service options
available to young people and the
barriers to access
Have an overview of current policy and practice
when working with young people
This course supports the knowledge and understanding
of the following DANOS units.
AA1 Recognise indications of substance misuse
and refer individuals to specialists
AA3 Enable individuals to find out about and
use services and facilities
AB2 Support individuals that are substance users
AC1 Develop your own knowledge and practice
AD1 Raise awareness about substances, their
use and effect
