Details - Dual Diagnosis
Course Overview
It is recommended that people attend a Basic
Drug Awareness course before
attending this course.
This course gives participants the opportunity
to explore the interplay of substance use
and mental health issues for service users and
workers. It will examine treatment
interventions appropriate to users with multiple
needs and give the opportunity for
participants to identify issues raised in the
management of their clients.
Course Aims - Participants will:
Understand how attitudes and fears affect
effective working with clients who have
multiple needs
Gain knowledge of the psychological impact
of substance use on vulnerable clients
Understand the impact of substance misuse
on mental health
Gain awareness of effective treatment options
and services relevant to this client
group
This course supports the knowledge and understanding
of the following DANOS units.
AF1 Carry out screening and referral assessment
AF2 Carry out assessment to identify and prioritise
needs
AG1 Plan and agree service responses which meet
individuals identified needs and
circumstances
