Training Course Details - Hepatitis
Course Overview
The prevalence of Hepatitis and Blood-Borne disease is common to the injecting drug
using population. This course will look at what these viruses are and examine prevention and treatment approaches available to this client group.

Course aims – Participants will:
 Gain knowledge about the nature and effects of blood borne viruses
 Develop awareness of the prevalence and incidence of Hepatitis B and C amongst
injecting drug users
 Improve knowledge regarding Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B vaccinations
 Identify prevention

This course supports the knowledge and understanding of the following DANOS units.
AA3 Enables individuals to find out about and use services and facilities
AC1 Develop your own knowledge and practice
AG3 Assist in the transfer of individuals between agencies and services
AH4 Support individuals in undertaking health care
