Details - Intermediate Alcohol Awareness
Course Overview:
It is recommended that people attend a Basic
Alcohol Awareness course before
attending this training.
This course builds on knowledge gained from
Basic Alcohol Awareness training. It is
designed for people working with problematic
drinkers and will explore attitudes and
perceptions that may affect this client group.
Participants will identify barriers to access
and strategies to improve services for problematic
drinkers, develop skills in assessment and face-to-face
working.
Course Aims - Participants will:
Gain understanding of treatment options relevant
to problematic drinkers
Develop knowledge of audit tools to aid assessment
of client group.
Develop knowledge of the importance of multi-agency
working protocols
This course supports the knowledge and understanding
of the following DANOS units.
AA1 Recognise indications of substance misuse
and refer individuals to specialists
AB2 Support individuals who are substance users
AF2 Carry out assessment to identify and prioritise
needs
AG1 Plan and agree service responses which meet
individuals’ identified needs and
circumstances
