Course Overview
This course has been designed to raise participants’
awareness of the effects, risks and impact of
Volatile Substance Abuse (VSA).
Course aims – Participants will have a
greater understanding of:
The prevalence of VSA
The variety of products than can/are abused
and why
The effects and consequences of VSA
Harm minimisation strategies and support
This course supports the knowledge and understanding
of the following DANOS units.
AA1 Recognise indications of substance misuse
and refer individuals to specialists
AB2 Support individuals that are substance users
AB5 Assess and act upon immediate risk of danger
to substance users
AD1 Raise awareness about substances, their
use and effects
