Details - Women who use substances (including alcohol)
Course Overview
It is recommended that people attend a Basic
Drug Awareness course before
attending this course.
Women drug users have specific health and social
care needs, which will be broadly
covered by this course, which is aimed at people
who work with this client group. The
training will examine attitudes and explore
barriers to access for women
Course aims – Participants will:
Gain awareness of the impact of substance
use on women’s lives
Develop an understanding of how to reduce
or remove barriers to access for women
users
Gain knowledge of women’s experiences
of substance use
This course supports the knowledge and understanding
of the following DANOS units
AA1 Recognise indications of substance misuse
and refer individuals to specialists
AA2 Establish, sustain and disengage from relationships
with individuals
AA3 Enable individuals to find out about and
use services and facilities
AB2 Support individuals who are substance users
